In addition to the GPTI, we were delighted to give attendees an exclusive preview of two upcoming features: Running times and Stop details. Stay tuned for more updates on these features in the coming weeks!
The event provided an excellent opportunity to connect with industry leaders, exchange ideas, and explore potential collaborations. The energy was inspiring, and we’re more excited than ever about the future of the transit industry.
Reflecting on the key takeaways, a few important themes stood out:
Franchising remains a central focus for the future of bus services in the UK, giving local authorities greater control to create more consistent, reliable networks. A strong example of this in action is the West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA), where Mosaiq Insights has been instrumental in supporting the transition to franchising through valuable network insights.
Sustainability was another major theme, with discussions centred around how the bus industry can help meet climate goals. From reducing emissions to investing in electric buses and greening fleets, this area will continue to evolve. Data insights will play a crucial role in optimising fleet management and supporting sustainable strategies moving forward.
In his speech, UK Local Transport Minister Simon Lightwood reaffirmed the government's commitment to public transit, with a budget of £1 billion for the bus sector. This includes funding for the £3 fare cap, supporting the shift to franchising models, and grants to protect and enhance existing services. Local authorities will be empowered to manage and improve networks, ensuring more affordable, accessible, and high-quality bus services nationwide.
The conversations at Euro Bus Expo 2024 underscored the critical importance of collaboration in shaping the future of public transit. It’s clear that working together—across local authorities, operators, and technology providers—will be key to achieving the high-quality networks of tomorrow.
We’ve been thrilled to meet so many passionate professionals at the Expo, and we look forward to continuing our work with partners across the industry to build smarter, greener, and more efficient public transit systems. Here's to a future where collaboration, innovation, and data insights drive the transformation of public transit.
